How To: Apply makeup for your session

So you’ve booked your photo session, your outfit is picked out, and your hair is done, but what about makeup? Here is a break down of how to apply makeup for you photo session.

Applying Makeup for Your Session

Foundation

To start out, think of your photo session makeup as equal to your out-on-the-town look. Everything needs more. Start by applying a heavier coat of foundation to your face and jaw. There is nothing worse than having your face and neck being two different colors!

Powder

Apply a coat of powder. Powder cannot be stressed enough! Powder sucks up the oil from you skin, making sure there is no glint in your photos!

Eyes

Eye makeup should include black mascara and black eyeliner. What if you don’t usually wear that stuff? The most important thing for photos is contrast. Even a little bit can go a long way to make your eyes pop! As for eye shadow, that’s really up to you and what you look you want for your photos. Unsure what to do? Defining the crease of your eyelids with a dark color will add definition and depth to the eyes.

Cheeks

Again, blush is helpful to add definition and contrast to your cheeks. Without it, you may become washed out and sickly looking.

Lips

Lipstick is up to you and what you are hoping for in your portraits, but I always recommend lip gloss to add some shine and glamour to your session!

Now that your look is done, you can go to your session, right? Nope! Remember to bring your makeup along for touch ups, especially powder! Shine is extremely hard to remove from photos, so do everyone a favor and bring it with!

Now go meet your photographer and make love to the camera!
