Epic Car Shoot

A couple weeks ago my boyfriend bought a Saturn Ion Redline. Due to his excitement, and the fact that I've had this idea for over year, we finally decided to execute this shoot using his new car.

Here is the process of this photo:

I made an HDR photo of his car, with an on camera flash and a flash off on camera left. From there, we light painted around the car using a laser pointer and a 30 second exposure. We then found a suitable location to place the car, and again using a 30 second exposure, caught the trails of headlights on passing cars. After placing the car and light painting into the new location in photoshop, I replaced the hood and windshield with a previously taken photo of the car to remove the reflection of the bridge in the original location. I then added the headlight stream, edited the wheels to appear to be spinning, added the reflection of street lights on the car, and added a motion blur to a duplicated layer of the light painting.

I'm really happy with how this turned out. This was probably my most drawn out project, with two hours of shooting time, and approximately 12 hours of editing. I feel it was totally worth it, and I owe a big thank you to my boyfriend for helping me accomplish it. Thanks :)
