52: Week 52

I know, it's been forever, but I finally felt motivated enough to finish the last shoot of my 52 week project.  I shot these photos at the end of December, but didn't have the creative drive to put them all together.  Now, 3 months later, I am finally finished with my 52 week project.

I started this project with a zombie shoot.  I felt it appropriate to end it the same way.

Thank you so much to all of my models who were willing to stand outside in the absolute freezing weather with fake blood all over their faces.  You guys were awesome to work with and there is no way I could have done it without you!

I'm slightly sad and slightly relieved that I'm done with this project.  It was a great tool to get me to shoot every week, but it is definitely nice to not feel the pressure to come up with something amazing every week.  Over all I think it helped me improve as a photographer.

Model: Nick

Nick wanted me to do a photo shoot of him being a bad ass.  That happens to be my specialty.

Self: Lavender

Okay guys, I've finally done something I've always wanted to do: dye my hair lavender.
For Christmas my mom offered to pay for me getting my hair done.  She was thinking red highlights or something-I was thinking "go big or go home."
So here it is!  My new professional photo for my website.

52: Week 42

I'll Give You Something to Worry About

It could be worse.  I could have a bunch of tattoos and piercings, be smoking a cigarettes in some sort of dilapidated ally way, and drop out of school.  Instead, I'm going to school, getting my work done, and going above and beyond on everything I commit to.

The sleeve is cameras and peonies, the wrist band is camera apertures, and the chest piece is two revolvers, peonies, a skull, and a banner that reads "stick to your guns." The tattoos were designed by me, but the vectors were found online, or designed by me from previous projects.

Wedding: Steph & James

My aunt Stephanie finally got married!  In the shortest ceremony of my entire career, I had the honor of standing up, and photographing my aunts wedding.

Dresses made by Grandma
Flowers done by Mom
Cake done by James's sister in law

Wedding: Alex & Jake

I am so happy to be back into photographing weddings, and this was a great one to start the season with!  This great couple is Alex and Jake, a pair of high school sweet hearts I knew back when I was in high school!  The wedding was beautiful, and the bride, groom, and family were amazing.  I can honestly say I've never felt as welcomed and loved as I did at this wedding!

Alex and Jake, from what I experienced at your wedding, you two are going to have an amazing, fun, and loving life together.  You bring that love and warmness everywhere you go, and everyone should be as lucky as you two.

Week 32

p.s. I have apparently received a new nickname from photographing this wedding: Awesome.

Engagement: Liz and Brandon

This awesome couple is Liz and Brandon!  I came to Stevens Point specifically to shoot their engagement session, and it was totally worth it!  Liz and Brandon were awesome, putting up with rain, wet grass, and some stranger trying to hire me on the spot.  I am so grateful that you guys stuck it out!

Thank you for giving me the opportunity to photograph your beautiful engagement, and your wedding next summer!

Engagement: Steph and James

FINALLY!  I have taken my Aunt's engagement photos.  This is Steph and James, who have been engaged for... a while.  After years of pestering, we finally had time to fit it in, and not a day too soon, they get married this September!

Steph and James, thank you for letting me take your engagement photos, I hope you are as happy with them as I am, and I can't wait to photograph your wedding!

52: Week 19

Week 19 has seen the continuation of my May Format surrealism series.

Trust is like Paper

When paper is crumpled and ripped, it will never be the same. Much the same way as trust.

The butterflies are crumpling and fall apart around her,
like her trust does every time she lets her walls down.

28 photos were used in this compilation.  Each butterfly was
photographed individually by dangling it on string from a stick.

Here is grandma helping with my butterflies!

And butterflies on a stick

Thank you grandma for your help with the butterflies,
and thanks to my model Katelyn for holding my stick!

Self: Puppies

After months of wanting this photo, I finally have it!  Here is a photo of me and my babies, Gibbs and Ziva.  This was taken in my front yard with the help of my grandparents.  Grandpa hit the shutter, and grandma got the dogs attention.

We took about 30 pictures, because most of them turned out like this:

Eventually we got it right, and we got an amazing picture!  It was in focus, and the dogs were both looking, all at the same time!

Thank you so much grandma and grandpa for helping me with this photo, I'm so happy to have this picture with my shelties!

Puppies: Easter

It's a holiday again! And that means pet pictures. Here is Ziva and Gibbs dawning their easter headpieces with an easter basket and new dog toys.

Isn't Gibbs adorable?

Poor Ziva doesn't look pleased.

If you didn't notice, our golden retriever Kayla is missing from this years Easter pictures. Thats because we had to put her down the day before we shot the pet's photos. Kayla was such a wonderful dog, and we will all miss her dearly. Above is a recap of the past years pet holiday pictures.
RIP Kayla, we will always love you.

Self: Happy Easter!

Happy Easter everyone! I'm back home in Stevens Point for the Holidays and to celebrate my belated 21st Birthday! I had a nice dinner with my family, and there was even enough ice cream cake left over to allow me a nutritious lunch today. This was taken in the front garden of my grandparents house. Dress made by my wonderful Grandma, and the perfect focus is thanks to my Grandpa, who had to come outside and model for me multiple times to allow me to get the right focus.

This is my first self portrait at 21!

52: Week 10

Meet fellow photographer Katelyn Faulks, who graciously agreed to model for me in my basement. I have always loved the wallpaper in our laundry room, and I finally got my hands on the perfect dress.

The dress was made by my wonderful grandma, who also helped to pin the pearl necklace onto the sleeve. Hair and makeup was done by Katelyn herself.

Katelyn, thank you for modeling for me on such short notice, I hope you had fun! And a special thanks to my grandparents, because without them the shoot would not have been possible.

Extended walpaper, changed dress color and wallpaper color to match, dodged and burn each individual jewel on necklace, sculpted face and body, erased shadows, normal dodge and burn, skin retouch and makeup retouch.

Model: Katie

Here is a quick preview of my latest shoot with Katie. If you don't remember her, she is one of my most popular models! Her photos have been published twice, took first place in an art show, and helped me win my photography scholarship! It's easy to tell why I was so excited to work with her again! This is just a quick composite I did from our shoot. More photos will be coming soon towards the end of the week. I'm waiting to publish them incase I choose one of photos for my 52 week project.
